In sports technology, the latest tech News Premier League announced plans to introduce semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) in the upcoming season, aiming to reduce the average length of VAR offside checks by 30 seconds. The system utilizes optical player tracking and will provide high-quality broadcast graphics to enhance the in-stadium and broadcast experience for supporters. SAOT has been previously implemented in the Champions League and Serie A, as well as in recent men's and women's World Cups. The Premier League intends to roll out the technology after one of the autumn international breaks, between September and November.
